About Mathi Kilhi Eco Garden
Nestled within the ‘MeedhooKilhi’, Mathikilhi Eco Garden is the first of its kind in the Maldives and one of the the most distinctive natural attractions in Addu Atoll. The eco garden features boardwalks built of over one of the freshwater lakes in ‘mathikilhi’, surrounded by a sea of wetlands grass and reflective water of the lake. Visitors can enjoy views of the freshwater lake, tropical vegetation and wetland’s diverse birdlife from the boardwalk of the eco garden. Mathikilhi is also an important wetland ecosystem that plays a vital role in protecting the island. It naturally absorbs rainwater, supports a rich variety of plants and wildlife, and provides fertile land for traditional agriculture, making it an integral part of Meedhoo’s natural heritage.

Flora & Fauna
Mathikilhi is home to a rich variety of native plants and wildlife. The wetland supports mangroves, Sea Hibiscus, Portia trees, Screwpine and many other tropical species. This diverse habitate provide shelter for birds, fresh water fish species and other wildlife that thrive in its unique environment.
Bird Watching
The wetland attracts both resident and migratory birds throughout the year, making Mathikilhi a location for bird-watching. Visitors may spot herons, egrets and the graceful white tern — the symbolic bird of Addu — alongside many other species in their natural habitat.
